I have explored a variety of painting mediums including oil, acrylic, and watercolour over the last twenty years, but had never seriously explored photography as a medium of expression until I began directing films.  Because of my painting background, I approach photography in the same way as I would a canvas, which produces a somewhat ethereal, painterly quality to the prints.

For those who know my work as a horror film director and writer, botanical photography might seem to be a surprising subject matter.  But to me, the theme of eroticism and death is fundamental to my work, and is clearly reflected in these photographs.

By capturing images of flowers at the beginning stages of decay, they become a metaphor for the fragility of life, and represent my quest to find beauty and sensuality in the face of death itself.
