Bertram Charles Binning

1909-1976 Bertram Charles Binning, born at Medicine Hat, Alberta. Studied at the Vancouver School of Art; the Art Students League, New York, with Yasuo Kuniyoshi and others; in London with Henry Moore; and in New York with Amedee Ozenfant. Taught at the Vancouver School of Art, 1939-1949. Head of art department and curator of the art gallery at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, from 1949. Known previousily for his drawings, he began to exhibit paintings in 1948. Painter of decorative abstractions. A.R.C.A. in 1954.
