Scott Pattinson
November 18 - December 6, 2008 - Opening reception, Thurs: Nov 20, 6:30-8:30 pm

" Silence is a concept that represents the allure of a place, how one can be drawn to enter a space by the inherent power and the dynamic energy that it exudes … how we are pulled closer to the warmth/energy of a roaring fire … the way the light falls through a window, illuminating the air … the silent ephemeral atmosphere between the things we see and touch".

As participants on this earth, we are in an active search of ecstatic moments that move us in ways that evoke our senses. Pattinson's work is derived from the belief that our Western built environments increasingly limit our search for authentic moments. His intention is to challenge our thinking in order for us to feel emotional connections with our place in the world. The work can draw you and in so doing you become part of an atmosphere of depth and tension. His paintings are alive with chaotic energy and movement, yet sensibly organized among blocks of vivid colour that allow our eyes to calmly rest. His purpose is to offer an enlightenment that is often missing in our daily lives.
