"Energy is a very prominent feature of my work.  Art creation for me transcends the visual where I capture, translate, and transform energy snapshots of my subject matter onto canvas."

Deborah Holowka lives and works in Vancouver, BC Canada. Through her signature practice known as DanushaTM, Holowka reads energy and translates life's layers of beauty and complexity into her art creations.  She transcribes her diverse life experiences and passions onto canvas by using oils, acrylics, bold textures, and colours. 

Holowka's  work involves techniques such as scraping back, scoring and masking. To accentuate colours in between paint layers, Holowka uses a method known as scumbling which allows for a soft merging of colour through optical (viewer) blending. Tools are wide-ranging from artist painting knives and brushes to large household painting brushes and construction drywall knives. 

In 2007, her work was featured by Paul Lorenz for best example of 'Abstraction in Painting and Drawing' at the 2007 Florence Biennale in Italy – the largest democratic contemporary art exhibition in the world. 

Danusha is Deborah's Ukrainian name and is also the name she uses to sign her paintings. Her work has been commissioned and sold internationally.
