Ben van Netten  Bio  ·     ·  Exhibitions:   Degrees of Transition

My goal is to create an experience that bypasses conscious thought, yet appeals directly to the subconscious. I do this by working the image until not easily identifiable, but still feels familiar.

Painting with oil on canvas, using a wet on wet technique, I try to make the surface a smooth and seamless as possible.

My inspiration comes from the experience of observing nature. I seek to capture the moments that go unnoticed by our conscious mind. When the mind is shifting from one view to the next or from one thought to the next.
